Quiz: Rome has more fountains than any other city in the world. Roughly how many? (A: ~2,000 — make a guess and look it up!)

Scavenger: Find and photograph a cat near ancient ruins. Rome has hundreds of cats living among the ruins — they are protected by law!

Scavenger: Find the letters 'SPQR' somewhere in Rome (on a manhole cover, building, or sign). What do the letters stand for?

Food Challenge: Eat a supplì — Rome's fried rice ball with tomato sauce and melted mozzarella inside. They're sold at most pizza shops!

Reflection: Write or tell someone one thing that genuinely surprised you about Rome. Ancient? Modern? Chaotic? Beautiful?

Quiz: In what year did Mount Vesuvius erupt and bury Pompeii? And what month? (The answer might surprise you — it wasn't in summer!)

Scavenger: Find a thermopolium — the ancient Roman version of a fast food counter. You can still see the holes where they kept hot food warm!

Art Challenge: Find a well-preserved room and sketch what you see — the layout, any paintings still on the walls, or what the space might have looked like.

Food Challenge: Have lunch near the ruins and try something made with local Campanian ingredients — mozzarella di bufala, local bread, or Neapolitan pizza.

Quiz: The Sistine Chapel ceiling is in Rome, but the artist was Florentine. Who painted it? And how many years did it take?

Scavenger: The Medici family ruled Florence and their crest (red balls on a gold shield) is hidden all over the city. Find and photograph 3 of them!

Scavenger: When you see Michelangelo's David at the Accademia, find his sling. It goes over his left shoulder — which hand is he holding the stone in?

Food Challenge: Get gelato from a traditional gelateria. Real gelato sits in a covered metal container, not piled up in mountains. Which flavor did you choose?

Quiz: San Gimignano once had 72 towers built by wealthy families trying to show off. How many original towers are still standing today?

Scavenger: Count as many cypress trees as you can on the drive through the Tuscan hills. They grow in a perfect tall, narrow shape. How many can you spot in 10 minutes?

Scavenger: Photograph a working vineyard — rows of grape vines stretching across a hillside. Can you identify which type of grape is growing?

Food Challenge: Get gelato at Gelateria Dondoli in San Gimignano — this family has won the World Gelato Championship multiple times. Try their special flavors!

Reflection: Artists and writers have been coming to Tuscany for hundreds of years because it's so beautiful. Describe the landscape in your own words — what makes it special?

Quiz: Venice is built on a series of small islands connected by bridges. Approximately how many islands make up the city? (Clue: it's more than 100!)

Quiz: Venice has an extraordinary number of bridges over its canals. Guess how many, then look it up. Are you close?

Navigation Challenge: Put the phone away and navigate using only bridges, canals, and yellow 'Per San Marco' or 'Per Rialto' signs on the walls. Make it from one landmark to another!

Food Challenge: Eat cicchetti — Venetian bar snacks on small pieces of bread. Try at least three different toppings at a local bacaro (wine bar).

Reflection: Venice has no cars, no roads, no traffic lights. How did it feel to be in a city where you can only walk or travel by boat? Would you want to live there?

Quiz: According to the legend of the Bled Island church bell, what happens if you ring it three times and make a wish? Look up the story of the grieving widow who had the bell made!

Challenge: Climb the 99 steps inside the Church of the Assumption on the island and ring the wishing bell. What did you wish for? (You don't have to tell anyone!)

Scavenger: Find the classic postcard view of Lake Bled with the island church and castle above. Photograph it. (Hint: try Ojstrica viewpoint or the castle terrace.)

Food Challenge: Eat a kremna rezina (Bled cream cake) — the region's famous dessert of vanilla custard and whipped cream between layers of puff pastry. It was created here in 1953!

Reflection: Lake Bled is one of the most beautiful places in Europe. How does seeing something this beautiful in real life compare to seeing photos of it? Write your thoughts.

Quiz: Ljubljana's symbol is the dragon. According to the ancient myth, which hero from Greek mythology supposedly fought a dragon here and founded the city?

Scavenger: The Dragon Bridge (Zmajski most) has four dragon statues, one at each corner. Find and photograph all four! Locals say if you're a true Ljubljana resident, the dragons' tails will wag when you cross.

Scavenger: Dragons appear all over Ljubljana — on lampposts, buildings, and signs. How many different dragon images can you find throughout the city? Keep a tally!

Food Challenge: Try kranjska klobasa — the famous Slovenian carniolan sausage, served with mustard and horseradish. It's a protected recipe that's been made in this region for centuries.

Reflection: Ljubljana is one of Europe's smallest capitals and also one of its least touristy. How did it feel compared to Rome or Venice? What do you think makes a city feel 'livable'?

Quiz: The Tower of London is home to famous ravens. According to legend, what terrible thing will happen if they ever leave? How many must be kept there at all times?

Scavenger: London's iconic red telephone boxes are everywhere (though many are now used as mini libraries or coffee shops!). Spot and count 10 red phone boxes on your travels.

Challenge: Ride a red double-decker bus — sit on the upper deck at the front for the best view! Get an Oyster card or use contactless payment.

Food Challenge: Eat proper British fish and chips — battered cod or haddock with thick-cut chips, served with malt vinegar and mushy peas. First meal in London!
